Ailsha has been described by Iggy Magazine as “a talented artist who will brighten up your day. Her music is as authentic and fun as she is.” The Wicklow based make-up artist turned video games composer and singer is making a name for herself and is a regular feature on the Dublin rock scene.
Music is in Ailsha’s DNA, her father is composer Shaun Davey, her mother Rita Connolly is a singer and her older sister is singer Cathy Davey. So it is no surprise that Ailsha has found her voice in the music industry, and what a voice it is.
Originally it was pop music Ailsha was making but while performing all over Ireland she realised she wanted to create a heavier punk/rock sound. The Covid 19 lockdowns gave her the time to focus on her edgier sound and she has since released several singles which have gained airtime on BBC Radio 1 and on Spotify editorial playlists.
The self-confessed misfit will perform her song Go Tobann (Suddenly) on the Eurosong show. Lyrically the song consists of English and Irish lyrics including the popular Irish phrase most people learn at school, “an bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leithreas?” which means, Can I please go to the toilet?
The music to the song in a high octane mash up of drums, flutes and strings. Ailsha’s love of composing animated music for video games is very evident in Go Tobann and could appeal to a large international audience.
