Reylta announced as second Eurosong 2025 finalist

Singer-songwriter Reylta has been announced as the second finalist in this year’s Eurosong, competing for the chance to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest – with the song ‘Fire‘.

Hailing from rural Ireland, Reylta’s music blends bittersweet melodies with a layered, alternative edge. Rooted deeply in Irish tradition and heritage—from its poetic legacy to its evocative landscapes and rich storytelling—her work paints a hauntingly unique perspective.

Reylta’s poetic lyrics, lush string arrangements, and evocative harmonies create a soundscape that is both intimate and transcendent.

Performing with her band since 2017, Reylta released her debut single, Fools Games, in 2019. Her much-anticipated debut album, Everything Unsaved Will Be Lost, launched last October to critical acclaim, with the Irish Independent naming her “Galway’s Alt Folk Queen.

Speaking on the Ray D’Arcy Show on RTÉ Radio 1 on Tuesday, Reylta described the song as “really dramatic, a magic song”.

“It’s about passion, and the instant chemistry you get with somebody… and letting the passion and chemistry take over”.

Reylta said her aim is to make a “mini musical” out of the three minutes she will have on stage performing “Fire“, with “lovely forestry, lighting, and telling a story through the staging as well as the song”.

She revealed that during a writing camp in Wicklow, she was paired with Ireland’s 2018 entry Ryan O’Shaughnessy and singer-songwriter Cian O’Donoghue – and wrote “Fire” in around an hour “with no intentions behind the song – it’s just magic”. Plus, with O’Shaughnessy’s help and Eurovision experience, he helped to cut the song down and master it.

Speaking about her love for Eurovision, Reylta said she has always “done a podcast on Snapchat” talking about different songs each year, remarking that she is now so close to being on the Eurovision stage herself.

She also named Dana’s “All Kinds of Everything” and Jedward’s “Lipstick” as her two favourite Irish Eurovision entries.

Reylta will join five more acts in RTÉ studios on Friday February 7th on the Late Late Show’s Eurosong Special, to choose Ireland’s representative for Eurovision 2025.

You can listen to her song below along with her interview with Ray Darcy.
